No ! You nasty thing. Not those nuts.

These Nuts!

Raw Almonds

For optimum nutrition store your nuts in your refrigerator or freezer. And eat them raw. Research shows that roasting nuts at higher temperatures can damage the nutritional fats. Do you hate raw nuts? Roasting them yourself is the second best to raw. Leaving the nuts unsalted will reduce daily sodium intake.

In order to successfully roast nuts and get the best nutritional value, it must be done at a low temperature —Typically in a 160–170° F oven for 15–20 minutes. Place the raw nuts on a cookie sheet in a single layer. To enhance the “roasted” flavor, put Bragg® Liquid Aminos into a spray bottle and mist the nuts before roasting them.

To your health!

Another Cancer Cure the FDA Tried to Shut Down

Cancer is Big Business – Stop the Pharmaceutical Lobby

Call your Congressman Today

I have shared the proven cure of cancer, Rick Simpson’s Hemp Oil. Hemp Oil is derived from Marijuana plants. Simpson’s web site Phoenix Tears gives a full explanation on how to make the oil yourself. In fact, the Home Page has a message from Simpson encouraging people to make their own so they know what they are getting. The pharmaceutical companies can’t make a penny off a plant you can grow in your garden. The Story of Stanislaw Burzynski has the same theme.

Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski was born in the early 1940′s in Poland, and was trained as both a biochemist and a physician. He’s spent the last 35 years developing and successfully treating cancer patients suffering with some of the most lethal forms of cancer at his clinic in Houston, Texas.

The US Federal government spend 14 years actively suppressing a cancer treatment that had a FAR greater success rate than any other treatment available, they also spent well over $60 million of US taxpayer dollars trying to put Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, inventor of the treatment, in jail in order to steal his patents and either suppress or cash in on his discovery.

As explained in the film: "Our bodies contain two categories of genes that allow cancer to flourish: oncogenes, and tumor suppressor genes. When someone has cancer, they have a higher level of oncogenes switched on, with a higher level tumor suppressor genes switched off. The goal is to tell the body to both switch back on the tumor suppressor genes, and turn off as many oncogenes as possible."

It eventually came to light that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had pressured the Texas medical board to revoke Dr. Burzynski’s medical license—despite the fact that no laws were broken, and his treatment was proven safe and effective.

But WHY?

It’s been stated many times that a crime can be solved simply by following the money, and this case is no exception. The FDA and the pharmaceutical industry had realized that if Dr. Burzynski’s discovery—which he owned the patent for—received a fair review, chemotherapy and radiation would rapidly dwindle into obscurity, effectively crippling the industry. Not only that, but if antineoplastons were approved, billions of dollars of cancer research funds would get funneled over to one single scientist who had exclusive patent rights…

Dr. Richard Crout, Director of the FDA Bureau of Drugs, once wrote in a 1982 newsletter:

“I never have and never will approve a new drug to an individual, but only to a large pharmaceutical firm with unlimited finances.”

It became clear that ever since 1977, when Dr. Burzynski first tried to get antineoplastons approved, the FDA had begun scheming to eliminate the threat he and his discovery posed to the entire cancer industry…

Watch the Following Excurt from Dr. Burzynski’s trail. Shocking!!!

Please share this with your friends and family. We need to limit the power of special interests in our country. Call our Congressman. Stop the Pharmaceutical Lobby from writing our laws.

What is Organic Food?

Simply said; Organic Food is food raised without any chemicals sprayed or added to the ground or fed to it. There are agency’s dedicated to regulating the industry. *USDA (United States Department of Agriculture)
Under the National Organic Program (NOP), 7 CFR Part 205, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is the official regulatory and enforcement agency for organic agriculture, food and other products. Pesticide control is done using natural products such as neem oil or helpful bugs like lady bugs. The food has also NOT been given any growth hormones or genetically altered.

There are many reasons to buy and eat Organic Foods . But let me put it this way – If you don’t eat organic you’re eating poison.

I actually had a checker ask me why I was willing to spend so much money on organic broccoli, especially when regular is on sale. Standing there looking at my bill I wondered why myself.

Why Should You Care About Pesticides

So many degenerative diseases are on the rise; parallel with the increase of chemical use on the farms and in our homes. Chances are there is a connection. The growing consensus among scientists is that small doses of pesticides and other chemicals can cause lasting damage to human health, especially during fetal development and early childhood.

Buying organic food for your kids is really important to their future health. Remember who is taking care of you when your old.

Will Washing and Peeling Help?

Simply put – NO! Nearly all the studies used to create these lists assume that people rinse or peel fresh produce. Rinsing reduces but does not eliminate pesticides. Peeling helps, but valuable nutrients often go down the drain with the skin.

SHOPPER’S GUIDE TO PESTICIDES

Highest % of Pesticides – Buy These Organic -
Peach
Apple
Bell Pepper
Celery
Nectarine
Strawberries
Cherries
Kale
Lettuce
Grapes (Imported)
Carrot
Pear

Least Pestisides - If you have to skip organic choose these

Onion
Avocado
Sweet Corn
Pineapple
Mango
Asparagus
Sweet Peas
Kiwi
Cabbage
Eggplant
Papaya
Watermelon
Broccoli
Tomato
Sweet Potato

Is Organic Food too Expensive?

I won’t try and tell you different. Organic costs more, sometimes a lot more. I have come to a compromise. If I will eat the peel I buy organic. I always buy animal products that have been fed no hormones. Organic is best but let’s but we all have a budget (unless you are running the government’s spending) I try to make intelligent compromises.

How Was This Guide Developed?
EWG analysts have developed the Guide based on data from nearly 87,000 tests for pesticide residues in produce conducted between 2000 and 2007 and collected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. You can find a detailed description of the criteria EWG used to develop these rankings and the complete list of fruits and vegetables tested at our dedicated website, www.foodnews.org.

Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives.

For the vast majority of human history, agriculture can be described as “organic”; only during the 20th century was a large supply of new synthetic chemicals introduced to the food supply. The organic farming movement arose in the 1940s in response to the industrialization of agriculture known as the Green Revolution.

Organic food production is a heavily regulated industry, distinct from private gardening. Currently, the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan and many other countries require producers to obtain special certification in order to market food as “organic” within their borders. In the context of these regulations, “organic food” is food made in a way that complies with organic standards set by national governments and international organizations. In the United States, organic production is a system that is managed in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act (OFPA) of 1990 and regulations in Title 7, Part 205 of the Code of Federal Regulations to respond to site-specific conditions by integrating cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.

If livestock are involved, the livestock must be reared with regular access to pasture and without the routine use of antibiotics or growth hormones.[4] In most countries, organic produce may not be genetically modified. It has been suggested that the application of nanotechnology to food and agriculture is a further technology that needs to be excluded from certified organic food.

The Soil Association (UK) has been the first organic certifier to implement a nano-exclusion.

Supplements and Herbs for RA:

The Basics

The first thing I have to tell you is I am not a Doctor. The info I share comes from mine and my friend’s personal experience and research.

Second, know that herbs and supplements haven’t been studied in the same way that prescription medicines for RA have. This is changing as the National Institutes of Health now has a well established center dedicated to studying complementary and alternative medicine.

There are some herbs and supplements that reduce inflammation which causes much of the pain, swelling and heat associated with RA. Always talk to your doctor first. Some herbs and supplements may interfere with other medicines you are taking. Remember, too, that since they are not regulated in the same way that drugs are, you cannot always be sure what you are buying.

Only Choose Pharmaceutical Grade Supplements. ONLY!! Don’t waste your money oryour health on off-the-shelf products.

Supplements and Herbs for RA:

The Best

Omega-3 fatty acids: Omega-3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatories found in products like fish oil, says David Leopold, MD, director of integrative medical education at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. Fish oil comes from coldwater fish such as salmon and tuna. Studies of fish oil in chronic inflammatory diseases show benefits such as decreased pain and morning joint stiffness and lowered use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Caution… many store bought products are rancid from improper storage and manufacturing. Know what you are buying. Check for supplements that contain mercury-free fish oils.

Borage oil: Borage oil reduces swollen and tender joints, says Robert Zurier, MD, professor of medicine in the division of rheumatology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. With it, patients may need less prednisone, a steroid, for relief of symptoms, he says. Borage oil may cause bloating or an upset stomach. Borage oil products may hurt the liver and may also increase risk for bleeding, especially in those who are also using NSAIDs or anti-clotting medications.

Green tea extract (EGCG), curcumin (turmeric), quercetin, ginger, white willow bark, ( White willow bark can cause a serious allergic reaction to patients with a history of allergy to salicylates aka aspirin allergy). boswellia: These are potential anti-inflammatory agents. “They act very similarly to ibuprofen, but at a lesser level,” says Leopold. Curcumin, boswellia, and ginger have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for inflammatory conditions, according to the NCCAM, which is supporting research with these botanicals in the treatment of arthritis and asthma.

Avocado-soy unsaponifiables: This vegetable extract made from avocado and soybean oils “seems to help the body regenerate normal connective tissue, Even just eating avocado and soy should give people a mild effect.

SAM-e may act as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic It also has a sedative effect so it is best taken before bed.

Cat’s claw, from the bark of an Amazon vine, may reduce joint swelling and pain lower blood pressure .

Probiotics: Many doctors say probiotics are promising. Leopold, for example, says they may help with leaky gut syndrome. The idea is that proteins from foods like meat can travel across the gastrointestinal system barrier and cause immune reactions. “There’s a large group of professionals that think leaky gut is linked to rheumatoid arthritis,” he says. Although extracts are stronger they are also more expensive Why not eat Indian food, which contains the spice turmeric?

Supplements and Herbs for RA:

The Worst

Arnica: Can cause burns and, when ingested, may be poisonous.

Kombucha tea: A fungal mushroom fermented product with a high risk of contamination. * I LOVE this tea and have never ever had any problems.

Colloidal silver: This actually contains silver which can turn the whole body blue permanently. It can also cause kidney problems, fatigue, stomach upset, and neurological problems.

Thunder god vine: This may cause stomach upset, skin reactions, temporary infertility in men, and a stop to periods in women. Extended use may lead to decreased bone density. Some parts of the plant are poisonous and could cause death.

Supplements and Herbs for RA: The bottom line?

Live a Healthy Lifestyle and S.H.I.N.E

Alleviating the Pain of Arthritis

My main emphasis at Get Healthy with Jan is to help people understand how use our bodies natural ability to heal itself. But supplementing lifestyle changes with high quality nutritional supplies allows your body to heal be far more effectively. Over 250,000 people have used supplements in arthritis treatment. They correct 80 – 90 percent of all arthritis cases, according to Robert Bingham, MD in the journal of the Academy of Rheumatoid Diseases .

Supplements:

Calcium/Magnesium – Prevents Bone Loss – I suggest Active Calcium or Chelated Mineral

CoQuinone Q10 - Increases tissue oxygenation, which in needed to aid in repairing connective tissues. I suggest CoQuinone 30

Garlic tablets – Inhibits the formation of free radicals which can damage the joints. I suggest Kyolic Brand. Garlic is also a blood thinner – Consult with your Dr. if you are taking prescription blood thinners. If you are having any surgeries, including dental work, let the Dr. know you are taking garlic well before hand.

Kelp – A rich source of minerals. The best way is to get kelp is through food.

Vitamin B Complex – PABA is good for swelling. If you do not take all the B vitamins you are not receiving the benefit. All of them are needed to work together. I suggest Essentials

Enzyme – Protects the joints from free radical damage. Allows the complete absorbsion of the nutrients of your food in the digestive track. Proper nutrition is essential to basic health of the body. I suggest Digestive Enzyme which also contains a form of Kelp

Primrose or Salmon Oil – Controls arthritis pain and inflammation. I suggest BioOmega

All the products I suggest are proven to have the same amount of product as in it as on the label. This is a big problem in the USA because the amount of the ingredient is NOT regulated. I use and recommend only Pharmaceutical Grade.

S. is for Supplements. Chances are you do not eat everything you need to support your body. Chances are even greater the food your eating is devoid of high levels of nutrition due to the soil being stripped with vital nutrients due to over-farming and fertilization.

H. is for Hydration. 70% of your body in water – You have to have it to live.

I. is for Interval, as in eating every 2 ½ – 3 ½ hours. Snacks and small meals only. This is not an “OK” to be a greedy pig. Eat well but moderate portions.

N. is for Nutrition. This is the left hand of Interval Eating. As long as you DO NOT eat processed food you’re making better choices than the majority of people in North America. Whole foods are better. Organic is very good and Raw! A+ for Amazingly Great.

E. is for Exercise. Yipes! Is this a “bad” word at your house? Before you rinse out my mouth with soap hear this – Just Move More. If a leg work out is pushing on the gas pedal then start parking in the back of the parking lot and walk. Take the stairs. Walk around the block at your lunch break. Stretch in your chair. Add on something new and do it until it becomes a mindless habit.

Don’t expect to start today and wake up tomorrow with new energy, low blood pressure and a killer body. Do expect to age gracefully with strong knee’s and a strong heart. All these little actions add up to something big at the end of a year. And we all know how the years add up all by themselves.

What’s the big deal with Sodium?

Our Kidneys get rid of excess sodium when your go to the bathroom. So what’s the problem. It’s gone isn’t it? Wrong! It might be gone but what does it leave behind?

Too much sodium in your body = High Blood Pressure, Kidney Disease and Liver Stress

Too much sodium and you hold onto water and increase your blood volume. On the surface you also look puffy and fat but inside is where it really gets ugly. Your heart has to pump more volume per stroke. This can lead to high blood pressure which is indicative of heart disease.

In the U.S. in 2005, there were 445,687 deaths from heart disease – that’s roughly one in five deaths.

Your Doctor will surely give you some medicine to keep your blood pressure under control. Taking these pills, day after day, yer after year will probably stress our your liver! It is also extremely stressful on your kidneys and can lead to kidney damage and failure.

How much is too much? The simplest way is to remember the 20% rule. If there is more than 20% sodium on the label Put It Back! Don’t be fooled by the marketing on the wrapper. Read the label.

It is so much easier to make small changes before there is a big problem. Stay under 20% sodium on the labels and S.H.I.N.E. with health.

Chickpea and Kale Soup
(Serves 5-6)
Ingredients
• 3 cups cooked chickpeas
• 2 cups low-sodium organic
vegetable broth or stock
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 sweet onion, diced
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 large bunch organic kale, stems
removed, chopped
• 2 fresh rosemary sprigs
• 1 (14.5oz) can low-sodium organic
diced tomatoes with juice
• 1 tsp sea salt
• ½ tsp cracked black pepper
1. Add 2 cups chickpeas and 2 cups vegetable stock or broth to a food processor or blender.
Process until smooth. Set aside.
2. Add olive oil to a large cooking pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until
slightly tender. Add the kale and whole rosemary springs and cook for approximately 4-5
minutes. Add the tomatoes and 1 cup whole chickpeas and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
3. Remove the rosemary sprigs and stir in the chickpea puree, sea salt and black pepper. Cover,
reduce heat and simmer for approximately 5 minutes before serving.
Tips
• Chickpeas are often referred to as garbanzo beans. They are high in protein and rich in
fiber.
• If using canned beans, be sure to choose varieties low in sodium and rinse beans well
before using.
• If not concerned about vegetarian, you may substitute low-sodium organic chicken broth
or stock for the organic vegetable broth or stock.
• If you can’t use fresh rosemary sprigs, add ½ tsp dried rosemary to mixture.
• Be sure to wash kale thoroughly before using. Kale leaves tend to harbor lots of dirt.
Substitute Swiss chard or other dark leafy greens in for kale.
• Remember, if you have a gluten or wheat allergy; be sure that all canned and packaged
products are manufactured in a gluten-free facility. Contact the manufacturer for this
information.
